I was invited to breakfast at Mom's this morning. I was a set for some of those great omlets but as we pull up we could see that someone had mowed the front field and there was a stressed out mommie dear in the area and a bunch of vultures in the field. That told the story right there but Sis and Jess just had to walk out and look. They found 2 babies, one dead and one alive but with 3 injured legs. They brought it back to the house. Sarah wanted me to take it to the vet so we took off. We knew it was not salvageable but wanted a humane ending to the story. The ladies at the vet said they could not legally treat a wild animal and tried to call around to see what to do next. They sent me to the Animal Control in Corydon. At least it didn't lay there and starve to death like the Game Warden said to do. The neighbors watched the girls carry the fawn to the house and called the police on us. The Game Warden came out to Mom's. We were already gone by then and they could not charge us with possession of wild life. He said, and I find this hard to believe, that you are not allowed to even touch a wild animal. If you see it injured you have to leave it to die or you are breaking the law. Mom was furious! Mostly mad at the neighbors for doing such a thing! Does that mean you will get arrested for moving a turtle out of the road? Preposterous! Wow, that was a big word.

How awful! I say tie him up and let him lay out there and the ants and the buzzard chew on him for 2 days! But cut off his foot first.

I had no idea either. Sharon's idea sounds good to me, too. Loved the hummer picture, thanks! ;)
