A Stroll Through the Yard

My boys are back from Texas for a visit. I went over to Grandma's house to see them last Monday. They will be 4 the first week of August. Aren't they just so cute? They were such good boys too. They had water guns and were squirting us and each other and having a blast, getting us wet! Last night E mixed up the sand mix and concrete and patched the big cracks in the hallway floor. We are making progress, slowly. Now we just have to wait until it is completely dry before we do the next step.
This little rodent is the biggest culprit in cleaning out my birdfeeders! He/she must have a nest in one of the huge maples because it is around here all the time. I see it at the feeder almost everyday, sometimes several times a day! The little bugger! They seem to know that it is safe to hang around, now that they don't see Missy around the yard all the time.

The Spirea is looking very nice this year. It is a small shrub that I dug up and transplanted to my yard. This year (it is two years old) it has really taken off.

Here you can see a little of it, to the left and behind the Stella de Oro daylilies. They are looking better this year than I've seen them at any time before. Is that because I dug half of them out this spring, and they had more room? Probably.

These two are the reason that the birds don't use the birdbath! I wouldn't either if I was a bird!! We would get eaten!

Lastly, my garden. My buttercrunch lettuce is ready to eat. The grocery store potatoes are just beautiful and not a bug on them! I loaded this garden down with the horse manure that we picked out of the stalls last fall, and then I added the chicken manure that we took out of the chicken house too. It all sat there all winter and this spring I used the tiller on it once to sort of stir it all up. I planted the onions in the right time of the moon and they are all under the ground instead of on top of it, like in past years! Most things just get planted when I have time. And there you have it a walk around the yard with me.
